IAPAM Launches 2 Day Aesthetic Medicine Symposium

A thirst for knowledge, combined with reducing reimbursements has prompted many physicians to consider adding cash based aesthetic medicine procedures to their existing practice. In response, the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) is launching a 2-day Aesthetic Medicine Symposium. The aim of the Symposium is twofold; provide expert instruction in the most popular aesthetic medicine procedures, and assist physicians in integrating aesthetic medicine procedures into a traditional medical practice.

“Many physicians are finding out that most weekend training seminars are simply focused on a small part of the equation. However, the key to having a successful aesthetic medicine practice is not only the equipment, but the ability to integrate the most popular and profitable aesthetic medicine procedures into an existing practice. We are providing physicians with a comprehensive educational program that will not only include hands-on clinical training, but will also include proven business and marketing strategies designed to assist in long term success” says Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM.

The association surveyed physicians who are currently providing aesthetic medicine procedures to their patients, and asked them what would have helped them the most when starting out. One common concern was for a refresher course on the physiological characteristics of the skin, and a review of facial anatomy. The association is proud to present board certified dermatologist, Dr. Jennifer Linder, who will be sharing her insight and experience on this key topic.

Another comment was that many physicians would have loved the opportunity to have someone spend a couple of days with them at their practice. The IAPAM’s Proctoring Program, provides such a service for physicians who have completed the 2 Day Symposium.

“We consider the Symposium to be an Aesthetic Medicine Practice in-a-box” says Russell. The program will allow physicians to learn from the IAPAM faculty’s impressive experience, and proven marketing strategies. In order to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to perform the hands-on portion of the program, space is limited to 24 physicians. Over 70% of Symposium time will be devoted to hands-on training for the participating physicians. The IAPAM’s philosophy is you learn by doing, not watching.

To ensure physicians will come away with winning strategies, Cindy Graf, a seasoned practice management consultant, will share her experience on how to significantly increase practice revenues from day one. “The symposium uniquely combines the clinical expertise of aesthetic medicine with the business and management skills necessary to build a financially successful aesthetic business,” says Graff.

The goal of the Symposium will also be to help physicians focus on the most profitable advanced skin care procedures, including: Botox™, medical grade chemical peels, and IPL/Laser hair reduction and facial rejuvenation. Future sessions will include Advanced BOTOX™ techniques, Combating Cellulite, Skin Tightening, Fat Harvesting, and utilizing Dermal Fillers.

The Symposium will take place on October 21 & 22, with a second Symposium taking place on November 18 & 19 in Scottsdale, Arizona. For more information on the Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, please call 1-800-219-5108 x704 or e-mail us at symposium@theiapam.com
